flashback – 2005

AWEEEE!!!!! my babies.

P9180065

This is from September 2005. At this time our family was living in Fort Collins in a rental house near City Park Ave. It was a big house but ended up being more house than we needed so we moved the following year into an apartment just a few blocks south – still near City Park. We had been in Fort Collins for about a year after moving there from Loveland. We had just taken over the college ministry at Third Day Victory Church – a ministry that a little over a year later became Revolution and an independent missional community.

Shayel was 3.5 and had gotten out of some of the most difficult phases. Aliyah was about 3 months old and we had finally gotten her reflux under control making her a totally different baby – much more easy going and happy.

The cd burner on our macbook went kaput on us. So we took it to the apple store in Boulder on Wednesday since David took that day off. We ended up spending the whole day there as our computer wasn’t fixed till 6. We had lunch with a friend and my mother in law at Pei Wei, we bought an ipod to replace the one that someone stole from me, we used a gift card of David’s, we bought the girls a sled, we went to Pearl Street and enjoyed dessert and drinks at the Cheesecake Factory, we hung out at Borders where I bought the happy hooker to refresh and expand my crochet skills and also a gorgeous Russian orthodox icon calendar and THEN FINALLY we got the computer back. It was a long day

But I got a few neat pictures (with my new camera – thanks mom and dad! the flash broke on my Olympus and it would have cost more than a new one to fix it)

first time sledding

We went sledding yesterday, for the first time ever. Shayel and Aliyah both had a blast. Aliyah even went down herself. We all got very wet and since I don’t have boots or snow pants my butt and and toes were numb after an hour and a half….but it was really fun. We went with some friends, taking advantage of winter break.

My camera ran out of batteries so I didn’t get many pictures but here are a few.

ketchup…catsup?

Aliyah is completely potty trained – took less than a week in pull ups – another accidental potty learning in the Fisher household hehe.

Shayel is loving school and doing FANTASTIC. She has spanish, music, art, PE and all the academic centers. I walk her there which means I end up walking about 4 miles every day – – good exercise but it DOES get old sometimes.

She has received all her green tickets for good behavior and turned in homework. She did great (according to her teacher, Ms. Burnett) with her show and tell. At her school, the show and tell presentations are more public speaking exercises and have to be related to the IB theme at that time so last week they had to interview a loved one about his/her kindergarten experience and talk about it in front of the class.

She’s still taking horse riding lessons and loving it – last time she got to trot which she really enjoyed.

Our account is ALMOST open for CRM to be officially missionaries-in-training. David’s 1 year leadership training starts in Oct. The first week of October we have 2 conferences to attend – on for Emergent Village, the other for Missio (the missional training school)

and that’s about it. This is a photo that was taken impromptu at Group Publishing (David’s work). Shayel was there for a head shot to be added to their catalog (in case they need her for a shoot down the road) and they had us jump in together for a quick family shot – of course, Aliyah had to be sticking out her tongue hehe

dress up

Shayel wearing my tunic top backward and my high boots with my purse – doesn’t she look schnazzy?

And again with Aliyah who decided to be understated in her “grownupness”

summer rainstorms

My girls LOVE the rain, Shayel always has loved the rain and insists on playing in it whenever it rains. Aliyah is the same way. Maybe it’s just a kid thing. Anyway, here are some photos.

Shayel WAS clothed when she was outside hehe

misc. photos

We live in a small apartment (by choice, no need to feel bad for us) and there is no room for a dining set so we have to improvise. At some point I’d like to get a nice big coffee table and some cushions but for now, we use this table cloth a lot – $2 in the clearance bin, can’t get a dining set for that 😉

and here are the girls reading with Daddy on the back balcony

and what picture set would be complete without a wacky cat pic. This castle is a fav. of the girls and apparently a comfy place for Vixen ?
